Samsung Washer Error Code UE (Unbalanced Load)

UE means the load is unbalanced in the drum. Samsung’s fix is to redistribute the laundry, not repair anything.

Meaning

UE (also shown as Ub, U6, or Ur on some models) means the washer’s sensors detected the load sitting unevenly in the drum and stopped the spin cycle before it could throw itself off balance. Samsung treats this as something to fix by hand, not a part to replace.

Possible causes

No cause is certain until it has been checked on the appliance.

Tools needed

First checks

Step-by-step diagnosis

  1. Open the door and spread the laundry evenly around the drum rather than leaving it bunched.
  2. If you are washing a comforter or a pillow on its own, add one or two similar items, or use the bulky cycle if your model has one. A single large item traps air and will not balance.
  3. Close the door and press Start.
  4. If the display shows Ur rather than UE, leave it. Ur means the washer is adding water and retrying by itself, so the cycle just runs longer.
  5. If UE appears on nearly every load, stop adjusting the laundry and check the machine instead. Push each corner and watch for a rock.
  6. Set a level on top in both directions, adjust the feet until it reads true, then tighten their lock nuts.

When to call a professional

If the simple checks turned up nothing, if the repair involves electricity, gas, or the sealed refrigerant system, or if you have any doubt at all: stop there and hand the appliance over to a qualified technician.
