OE (also shown as 0E, OC, or 0C) means the washer detected more water in the tub than it should have. Samsung groups this with drain problems in its own troubleshooting, since an unlevel washer or a bad drain hose installation causes both.
Samsung Washer Error Code OE (Overflow)
OE means there’s too much water in the washer. Samsung treats it the same as a drain fault: check the hose and level first.
Meaning
Possible causes
No cause is certain until it has been checked on the appliance.
- Likely Washer not sitting level, throwing off the water-level sensor
- Likely Drain hose installed incorrectly (too deep, too shallow, or forming an airtight seal in the standpipe)
- Possible Clogged pump filter restricting drainage (front-load models)
First checks
- Check that the washer is level on the floor. An unlevel washer is Samsung's first listed check for this exact code.
- Confirm the drain hose is inserted 6 to 8 inches into the standpipe or sink, doesn't form an airtight seal, and sits between 18 and 96 inches high.
- On front-load models, open and clean the pump filter behind the small access panel at the bottom front of the washer.
- Power cycle the washer and start a short cycle to confirm the water level returns to normal.
What not to do
- Replacing the water inlet valve as a first step. Samsung's own guide treats OE as a level and drainage issue before anything else.
- Ignoring the drain hose height limits. A hose routed too high causes exactly this code even with nothing clogged.
An error code varies by brand
The same code can have a different meaning depending on the brand and model. Always check your appliance's manual before acting.
