How DiagnosFix guides are researched, written, and kept honest.
Our promise
Every DiagnosFix guide is built to answer one question: what is actually wrong with your appliance, and what should you do about it? To keep that promise we follow the rules below on every page we publish.
How guides are produced
- Sources. Guides are researched from manufacturer service documentation, technical bulletins, parts supplier references, and documented technician practice. Where sources disagree, we say so.
- Probability, not certainty. Appliance faults can rarely be diagnosed with certainty from a symptom alone. Our guides rank causes by likelihood and give you a verifiable test for each one (a multimeter reading, a visual check, an error-code readout) instead of presenting any diagnosis as definitive.
- Model variability. Reset procedures, error codes, and part locations vary by brand, model, and production year. Brand-specific pages state this explicitly, and error-code meanings are always given as indicative, never absolute.
- Modern tools, human accountability. We use AI-assisted drafting as part of our production workflow. Every published guide follows our documented diagnostic template, and every page is checked for accuracy by Chriss R., DiagnosFix’s founder and technical reviewer, before and after it goes live. Corrections are handled per the process below.
- Safety first. Every hands-on tutorial carries a safety notice and links to our Safety Disclaimer. We never publish instructions for repairs we consider professional-only (sealed refrigerant systems, microwave high-voltage circuits, gas lines).
Who reviews our guides
DiagnosFix was founded by Chriss R., who also writes and technically reviews most of what’s published here. Chriss trained as an industrial engineer specializing in equipment maintenance, then moved into construction work, following in the footsteps of his father, a building contractor, whose business he took over when his father retired. Now raising four boys, he runs that business at a calmer pace from his office these days, with quotes, planning, and job tracking handled mostly from a screen rather than a job site.
During his engineering studies, Chriss specialized in the maintenance of IT hardware and services, a field he later taught professionally for several years. Together with his sister, he also runs a family restaurant, and because he’s a trained maintenance engineer, the two of them service and repair all of the restaurant’s professional kitchen equipment themselves, with no outside technician involved.
That direct, hands-on experience diagnosing and fixing real equipment failures, on top of a formal background in industrial maintenance, is exactly what grounds his review of every DiagnosFix guide: he has spent years actually doing the kind of troubleshooting this site writes about, not just reading about it.
What we never do
We do not publish fake reviews, invented statistics, or credentials we don’t hold. We do not accept payment for favorable coverage of any brand, part, or retailer. We are not affiliated with any appliance manufacturer.
Advertising and affiliate independence
The Site earns money from display advertising (Google AdSense) and affiliate commissions on replacement parts. Advertisers and affiliate partners have no input into which causes we list, which repairs we recommend, or when we advise replacing an appliance instead of repairing it. If our diagnostic conclusion is “this part is fine, don’t buy a new one,” that’s what the page says.
Corrections
When a reader or our own review finds an error, we correct the page and update its “last updated” date. Substantive corrections (a wrong test value, a wrong part reference) are prioritized over stylistic fixes. Report errors via the Contact page — corrections get our fastest turnaround.
Updates
Appliance lineups and part prices change. Our most-read guides are reviewed on a rolling basis, and cost figures are given as ranges with the understanding that local prices vary.
