IE appears when the washer can’t fill with water within its expected time. LG’s troubleshooting focuses entirely on the water supply: closed or partly closed taps, kinked hoses, and clogged inlet filters account for most IE codes.
LG Washer Error Code IE (Water Inlet Error)
IE means the washer isn’t getting water fast enough. Check the supply taps and inlet filters before anything else.
Meaning
Possible causes
No cause is certain until it has been checked on the appliance.
- Very likely Water supply tap partly closed or fully closed
- Likely Kinked or pinched water supply hose
- Likely Clogged inlet filter screen at the hose connection
- Possible Household water pressure below the washer's minimum, around 14.5 psi
First checks
- Confirm both hot and cold supply taps are fully open, not just cracked.
- Check the supply hoses for kinks or pinches along their full length.
- Turn off the water, disconnect the hoses at the washer, and inspect the small mesh filters inside each inlet valve port for sediment.
- Test water pressure at another tap in the house if the checks above come back clean.
What not to do
- Skipping the inlet filter screens. They sit inside the valve port, not the hose itself, so a clogged one looks identical to a closed tap from the outside.
An error code varies by brand
The same code can have a different meaning depending on the brand and model. Always check your appliance's manual before acting.
